CRAFT
ANVRAT’s mission is to enhance livelihoods by providing skill development and entrepreneurial training to artisans, craft-persons, economically disadvantaged groups, and tribal communities, especially in traditional arts and crafts such as hand weaving, hand-spinning, and natural dyes.
We began this journey in Jharkhand, where ancient traditions of craft still live in scattered forms, yet many weaving communities and craft practices are on the verge of extinction due to limited design support, lack of market access, and insufficient skill refinement. ANVRAT is working to bring these communities and their rich heritage to the forefront again, preserving art while creating dignified sources of income.
“Hunar Ghar” Crafting Skills, Creating Futures
ANVRAT presents हुनर घर at Rampur, Lohardaga, a dedicated skill-development space empowering women through traditional crafts.
At Hunar Ghar, women are trained in natural dyeing, crochet, and knitting using naturally dyed yarns, enabling them to transform heritage into a sustainable livelihood. Know more.
The Santhal's
Under our weaving program in Jharkhand, we have collaborated with Santhal women weavers of (Marsal Prathmik Bunkar Sahyog Samiti Ltd) through Project Prakriti, a CSR initiative by Central Coalfields Limited. Here, ANVRAT trains women in advanced on-loom techniques and natural dye processes. During this journey, our team recognised the need to revive textiles that hold deep cultural meaning for the Santhal community.
This led us to bring back the Sasaang Lugdi, the traditional Santhali wedding saree once dyed with turmeric, and the Futa Gamcha, a versatile everyday cloth that had nearly vanished. By reviving these textiles, we are not only preserving heritage but also creating new opportunities for the women who weave them. Know more.
Preserving tradition. Empowering women. Building sustainable futures.
